220. Observing and Enjoying the Flowers, Shrubs, and Trees

I enjoy gardening. At our Atlanta home, I love our flowers, the daffodils, tulips, and trilliums, the Georgia asters, astilbes, and foam flowers, the anemones, the turtleheads bishop caps, and Jacob’s Ladder. Because we have an almost completely shade garden, I love the dozens of ferns and hostas. I love the shrubs such as the daphne odora, Mt Airy fothergilla, the Florida anise, and our native azaleas. I love trees our yard’s oak trees, dawn redwood, gingko, cryptomerias, and the 60 different species of Japanese maples.

My eyes, and nose, notice the beauty of Portugal. There are flowers and shrubs along the Camino. Grasses, dahlias, and hydrangeas like Georgia.

The squash of fall.

Some people find all sorts of ways to display their flowers or add decor to their gardens.

Did you ask about trees? Lemon trees to massive, old hardwoods.

In Coimbra, I wandered through the Botanical Garden. Wonderful!

Like so many people, I commuted to work, driving approximately 100 miles a day roundtrip. When I arrived, I spent hours in my office. I spent more hours in classrooms, almost always in a building. Maybe my enjoyment of walking, of long-distance hikes, of gardening allows me to change. From sterile buildings to the natural environment. Something to see every day! It is so good to be free to enjoy those flowers, shrubs, and trees.
