537. French People and Scenes

Besançon proud and shy baker

Within a few days, I’ll be leaving France. I want to post some of the individuals and scenes that I’ll remember.

The French love being outdoors, whether in the woods or in a market.

The man is smiling even though I’m only buying one apple from him!

How many times do you hear an accordion being played on a city street?

And, listening to more music.

Despite living in the digital news age, some diehards love to read the ink printed sheets.

Throwback: Not everything is digital.

Even small town France had its equivalent to Amazon.

I stayed one night at this woman’s BnB. Can you tell that she is an interior designer by day? How many people would have a bird perched on an old wood pillar as a home decoration?

BnB Interior Designer

A very helpful and friendly tourist information staffer. He also found my lost umbrella that I had left in the shop.

Besides the Jehovah Witnesses, I saw other individuals that I suspect our conservative Christians. Who else would have a poster outside the Reims Cathedral entitled “Is Life Created?”

Vitry Muslim women

Besides Christians, I did see numerous Muslims. While clothing is not always a marker of religious identity, I didn’t see individuals whose clothing distinguished them as Jews, Hindus, or Buddhists.
