668. Shapes and Structure: Our Interacting with the World On and Near the South West Coast Path

In the previous post, I presented a number of black and white photos showing the natural world on and near the South West Coast Path. This post looks at some of the ways we have impacted that world.

What would humans do without stones? Stones were used by humans to mark special, “sacred” sites. They are still used to mark special, “sacred” sites.

From there stones are found everywhere. From stone walls to stone houses to ruins of stone castles.

Of course, not all dwellings are stone.

Moving inland, the English villages and cities are anchored architecturally by churches and cathedrals. Some are small; some are grand. Some have simple one aisle naves; others have several aisles in the nave. Some have simple ceilings; others have grand ceilings. The interiors always include something interesting.

More recent human impact has been the “highly admired” beach hut.

And, of course, folks right off shore enjoying the water.

Enjoy!
