It has been a long time. Our last family trip is in 2014 when we celebrated our sons’ university graduation. Since they both studied in Great Britain, we traveled around the country letting them show us some of their familiar haunts. Jokingly, we labeled the tour a pub and distillery tour.

This trip raises questions. How to find the best dates for three young people immersed in their jobs? What sites and experiences would the five of us enjoy? Which experiences are a must? How to find that balance of scheduled activities vs free time for spontaneous experiences? Would our lodging be acceptable? Would we all stay healthy? Part of traveling is recognizing those questions. Part of traveling with others is handling these questions together.

While all of these logistical and other-related questions are necessary to address, each of us realize that we want simply to spend time together and create some new shared experiences. As you’ll see, I think that we succeeded.
